  • months of the year
  • counting to 31
  • using ordinal numbers (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.)
  • practical starter phrases

This online session is designed to be relaxed and accessible, with no prior experience needed. You’ll need a piece of paper handy, something to write with, and a pair of scissors.

All levels of Gaelic are welcome, including complete beginners. English will be used during the workshop.

Latha math a chàirdean! Ceana a-seo le deagh naidheachd dhuibh:

This fall we are going to continue our dive into the traditional Gaelic story “Pìos dhe ‘n Adhar” with Sionainn ni’n Aonghais Iain Pheadair | Shannon MacMullin! Book your seat now for October 14, 2025 at 7pm Atlantic time.

During Part 1, we read the story together, looked at the vocabulary, and practiced some of the idiomatic language structures.

In Part 2, you’ll join other upper-intermediate and advanced Gaelic learners to dive into this traditional Nova Scotia Gaelic story. Led by Sionainn ni’n Aonghais Iain Pheadair | Shannon MacMullin, a tradition bearer from Cape Breton, we’ll bring the story to life by discussing the use of language in the story to convey imagery, share traditions, and weave connections between people, culture, and place.

Before the session, to make the most of our time together, we kindly ask that you read or re-read the story and come ready to share your thoughts – we won’t be reading it together during the workshop.

Only Gaelic will be spoken during the session.
